Mirror Envy

I have mirror envy. Of no mirror in particular. Just mirrors of all shapes and sizes, any sort of frame, both new and old.

I was reminded of this on my long walk home today from the Holden service centre where I had to take my car to be fixed (flat battery + electrical problem = $$$ and no car for the time being!!) when I popped into a mirror shop I had been wanting to visit for ages but had only ever passed in my car.

And wow, I was dazzled. As I wandered through the shop I 'bought' a mirror for every room in the house. Not because I think we should all be primping and preening ourselves but because I love the look of them and how they can become like pieces of art.

Do you love mirrors too? What are your favourites?

Mirror #2 Gets a Revamp

So I was hating our long mirror. It functioned fine: didn't distort the figure in any way and was useful in ensuring the bottom half was dressed in a vaguely adequate way. BUT it was a horrible timber veneer. Have had it for years and never really enjoyed looking at it. So ... I got out the silver paint again. You'll be pleased to know that I didn't take any before shots as I was too eager to attack it with some paint! So here it is primed.

And ta da! Here is the result ...

While it looks a lot better than it did before and now matches the mirror on the mantel that I painted silver, it still seems lacking in something. I had thought about doing a decorative pattern in fine black paint around the top sides but as I've never done that before am not sure that's such a good idea.

Any suggestions? Or am I better off leaving as is?

Mirror Magic

I thought I'd end the week with something a little different. We often see rooms with walls covered in quirky vintage mirrors, which is a great look, I'm sure most would agree. But what about an ultra-modern room with modern mirrors lining one wall ..?

I kinda like it? Do you?

And here's a birds-eye of the living area in the same house.
Great photography; interesting house.
